“Isn’t that way of eating expensive?”
So someone asked me recently how expensive it is to eat this way. Really, we have actually started to save money. I have gotten to the point where all I need is two meals, Breakfast and Dinner. Breakfast consists of eggs and a little meat and dinner is just one or two meats.
I’m the money guy in my family and I have broken down the costs of meals so many times. We went way over budget in our food category every month before the carnivore diet. Now it’s very simple because there aren’t many ingredients. If you buy steaks that aren’t the ribeyes or NY Strips then you can eat them cheaply. I eat a top sirloin steak from Sam Club 2 or 3 times a week and it’s about $5.50 per steak. Maybe a little butter with that or left over chicken or something. Most of the time that is enough for me. The other days I have ground beef patties, 2/3 pound of beef for $3.70, or one pound of ground beef, $6.18 per pound, or chicken and pork which both are very cheap.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube about how to find cheap cuts or even to cut up your own steaks etc. The better quality you can get is great, but as long as you are eating the meat, you will be healthier than most of the people consuming the traditional American diet. I don’t by any chance get super high quality meat, but it’s only meat. Just get what you can afford, but just know there is no excuse why every person can’t eat this way even with a big family.
You see this lifestyle is all about cleaning up your life and making it not always about food. There is simplicity and peace in the fact that you don’t need much variety. I look forward each day to the same similar meals.
